NEMA FARMS- Empowering Women through Poultry Farming andFinancial Literacy in Lamin Village


Nema Farms was established in 2020 in Lamin village to contribute towards the production
of quality foods for Gambian consumption. The farm’s main activity is the production of
poultry; eggs and chicken for local consumption. The objective of the farm is to integrate
backwards to produce good quality chicken feed in addition to producing poultry, sufficient to
meet the needs of Nema Farms outlets and supply the wider local market.
Nema farms is willing to train women in Lamin on poultry production around 30 women per
year and up to 100 women over a 3 years period, in addition the women poultry farmers will
be trained on financial literacy and provided with a poultry farming starter kit, they will be
linked to the local markets, and connected to credit unions and microfinance institutions,
saving groups for financial sustainability.
