Response for poultry farmers to mitigate the impacts of heat stressduring The mid -dry season in the Lower river region jarra soma village

The goal of the project is to strengthen the resilience and adaptive capacity of smallholder
poultry farmers in the Lower River Region (LRR) to mitigate the impacts of extreme heat
stress during the mid-dry season.
a. (20) smallholder poultry farmers will have established effective on-farm emergency
response and local adaptation mechanisms to manage acute mid dry season heat stress
events.
b. Establish functional social media platforms (WhatsApp, TikTok, and Facebook) for real-
time information exchange, farmer-to-farmer support and continuous climate-smart
awareness creation that will be created and actively maintained, reaching at least 1,00
smallholder poultry farmer followers in the region.

c. Reduced climate-related (heat stress) poultry mortalities and losses among the targeted
20 smallholder farmers by 100%, driven by adoption of improved poultry housing designs,
access to climate-adapted feeding practices, and the use of affordable, farmer-friendly
cooling technologies.
